Camp Grant Massacre
On April 28, six Americans, 48 Mexicans, and 92 O'odham grouped up at Rillito Creek and marched to Aravaipa Canyon. On Sunday night April 30 the massive group surrounded the Apache camp and attacked. The O'odham were the main fighters in the surprise attack.The Americans and Mexicans killed the Apaches who tried to escape. Most of the Apache men were off hunting in the mountains. Twenty-nine children were caught and sold into slavery in Mexico by the Tohono O'odham. 144 Apaches were killed. Out of the 144 that were killed only 8 of them were men.
